During archaeological excavations beneath the Ohel Yitzhak Synagogue, located at the end of Hagai Street in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem, an ancient vaulted hall was discovered, covered and filled with soil, containing archaeological findings from various periods.
To preserve the ancient structure and the building above it during the exposure and reinforcement work, a steel truss was constructed on small-diameter piles. Excavation was then carried out in parallel with reinforcement of the pillars and vaults using anchors and a permanent steel framework.
Today, the hall is used for educational sessions and various events.
The project was completed between 2011-2012, commissioned by the Western Wall Heritage Foundation.
