Roofing the Western Wall Plaza – Jerusalem
Splitting the Western Wall Plaza into two levels: The upper level, known and familiar, is intended for visitors and Western Wall worshippers. Beneath it, a lower level will expose visitors to ancient layers from the times of the First and Second Temple.
– Careful archaeological excavation to a depth of 2.7 meters, uncovering relatively modern archaeological findings, as well as the usual debris.
– Documentation by the Antiquities Authority
– Carefully dismantling the findings allowing further excavation to the desired depth.
– On completion of the excavation the lower level ceiling will be cast, and the upper level wall area tiling will be restored.
