The Shaarei Teshuva Synagogue Hall, located in the Western Wall Tunnels, was divided into two levels – the upper-level houses the Shaarei Teshuva Synagogue, and the lower level contains the “Model Hall” visitor center.
The hall’s floor, composed of two intersecting vaults, was lowered through excavation. Concrete walls were cast beneath the vaults, and the entire structure was elevated and reinforced using passive and active stainless-steel anchors.
The synagogue was built on an illuminated onyx floor, above a concrete ceiling supported by columns and a steel framework.
The lower level features the “Model Hall” – a visitor center with a model of the Second Temple.
The project was completed between 2016-2018, commissioned by the “Delek” Foundation and the Western Wall Heritage Foundation.
