Straus House

Straus House

A unique public building integrating new construction with an ancient structure in the Western Wall Plaza.

The project includes approximately 1,500 square meters designated for a yeshiva, mikveh, public restrooms, a police station, and an entrance lobby to the Western Wall Tunnels.

As part of the project, the historic structure underwent extensive preservation and reinforcement, including complex restoration work to maintain vaulted ceilings and the addition of a modern elevator serving the building.

The work involved meticulous excavations and the integration of advanced reinforcements within the ancient structure, ensuring the preservation of its historical and architectural value.

Additionally, a new floor was constructed above the historic building, seamlessly integrating with the existing structure. The project presented significant preservation challenges, balancing technological innovation with historical respect.
